If you're using your Stir It Up Lux turntable for the first time, follow the steps below for quick and easy set-up, or watch this video
1. Attach the drive belt
- NOTE: The drive belt comes pre-installed. However, if when you open the turntable there is no visible belt around the sub-platter and motor, please refit the belt following the steps below.
- Put the belt on the motor (this is the gold spindle), then keep the belt tight stretch it around the sub-platter. Once in place, make sure the belt is flat and not twisted.
- Now place the glass platter on the black sub-platter by aligning the center holes.
- Now place the slip met on the glass platter, again aligning the center holes. The platter should be attached to the base.
2. Balance the tonearm
Option 1 (Without Stylus Pressure Gauge)
- Push the Balance Weight on the tone arm until you feel a click.
- Remove the stylus needle cover before attempting to balance the tonearm.
- Unclip the tonearm from its rest and make sure it is floating freely.
- Rotate the Balance Weight back and forth until the tone arm is parallel with the platter.
- Now place the tonearm back into its rest and clip it in so it is secure.
- Now add the correct tracking force for the stylus. You can do this by rotating the whole balance weight counterclockwise until the correct weight is added. The correct tracking force for this stylus is 1.5g - 2.5g (2g is standard).
Note: Once finished, if you’re not using the turntable to play a record, put the stylus needle cover back on to protect the stylus when not in use.
Option 2
- Push the Balance Weight on the tone arm until you feel a click.
- Remove the stylus needle cover before attempting to balance the tonearm.
- Unclip the tonearm and from its resting position make sure it is floating freely.
- Place the stylus onto the 2-gram mark (recommended Tracking Force for our stylus).
- Rotate the balance weight back and forth until the pressure gauge is level. Ensure that the needle stays on the 2g mark.
